Look! It's an entry! My LJ has become a sad, neglected thing. I should probably just let it die once an for all, but I feel the desire to squeal fangirlishly. ( zomg, it's the latest Bourne movie! )

Saw an article on the "Razor" thing that BSG is doing later this year. Apparently, ( spoilers? ) I think I'm going to barf. Talk about completely cheapening the character. Not sure I'll be watching this thing...

Dear morons currently going VROOOOOM VRRRRRRRROOOMRRRROOOOM VRRRRRRROOOOMMMMMMMM VROOMVROOM VROOM up and down the road about two feet away from my house:
GO THE HECK AWAY. YOU ARE NOT COOL. Your motorcycles or whatever obnoxiously noisy things you're riding are not awesome, and neither are you for all your noise pollution. You've been doing it for the past half hour. I'm sure it's very fun, but I hope you either get pulled over/arrested (with all the noise you're making I can only assume you're speeding) or crash your stupid noisemaker into a tree.
No love, Grumpy Toof

I'm updating because I really need something to take my mind off the gross pile of drippy SQUISH that's on my head right now. Yes...more henna. It's actually not dripping as badly as it did the first time--I think I got it a little thicker. It seems to drip more as it warms up, though. Sigh. It'll all be worth it! Hopefully, any way. I'm a little worried about this batch. The dye seemed to release quickly, but it wasn't very noticeable...I waited at least 18 hours and then I couldn't wait any more. Who knows how it'll turn out. :p I hope it at least works on the roots...they were getting pretty bad. In more hair news...I picked up some Biotin at the store. 5000 mcg doses, yay. I've been taking one a day for a week-ish; a little too soon to tell if it's helping, I suppose. Bull is doing fabulously. We seem to have two kinds of rides: awesome and horrible. I decided that when we start having a horrible ride, I'll just take a break to calm down, ask him to do something simple (trot in a couple circles or something) and then call it a day. My patience is so lacking that if we keep going, everything gets worse instead of better. Sigh. But lately, we've had all awesome rides. The weather's been great--60° to 80° range and mostly sunny, so we've been riding outside. Yes! The indoor arena's not bad, but it's so small. Anyway, we've been jumping some fairly simple courses but with bigger jumps--2'6" is now the low and 3' is the high. I'm excited. :D Now that I have my driver's liscence I've got a pretty good routine going--ride Monday and Tuesday, take Wednesday off, ride Thursday and have a lesson Friday. Weekends are 'eh, if I feel like it I'll go' days. It's working pretty well. Fifi and dad went out to breakfast/lunch and I couldn't go because of the mass of hair/goop/shower caps/towels on my head right now. Sucks, but dad said he might bring me something back. I hope all the orange washes off my face/neck/hands when it's time to get the henna off. I hate being all bright-bright-orange-faced. Also, I'm thinking of henna-ing my eyebrows. They don't match my henna'd hair, but it's not TOO bad...of course, they might turn out to be way brighter or something. Maybe I'll just be safe and leave them alone. I really want a Ficcare for my hair. They have some gorgeous clips. Of course, they're massively expensive, too, and I really want another sword...I'm debating whether or not to try and save up money for that incredible dragon sword I saw at the Renaissance Festival last year. $1k! *dies* But it was so, so beautiful. I've never seen anything like it...it would look fantastic hanging under my big map of Middle Earth... *sigh* OH. I know what else I can talk about.... Heroes!( Teh spoilers for 1.19 )Ooh, the henna's been on for an hour now. Time does fly when you're updating your LJ. I could take it off now, I suppose, since I don't have anything else to write about and I think an hour would do it. I'd like to stick to two, though. Sigh.

Today started out with the promise of being a(nother) horrible day. My back hurts (in JUST the right spot to make any sitting posture painful), I couldn't seem to get anything done this morning, dad was home so I couldn't make coffee, and the suck from yesterday's total failure of a riding session was still hanging around. But good stuff happened.
1. It's SUNNY! This is amazing. It hasn't been consistently sunny for...hmm...a week? Maybe more?
2. It's WARM! 60° right now! That's the high for the last two weeks. If it keeps up maybe I can wash Stupidhorse Bull's tail (it's disgusting).
3. I went to Starbucks. While I do love Starbucks, it's entirely possible to go, get coffee, drink coffe, and leave feeling grumpy the whole time. Today, though, the barista who took my order was quite sympathetic when I whined for a little about my horrible life--err, day--and he was even kind of cute, too.
4. When I was leaving Sbucks, I was about to get into Scott (who needs to be washed, ugh) when a lady who just got out of the drivethrough called out her window, "You have a beautiful car!" Instant good mood!
5. When I got home, the house was locked. Hm. Nobody home! I'll be alone again. sadcries. But there was a note on the table: "Went to try new car!" This is fantastic news. Dad really wants another car (like we NEED another one, sigh, he just likes to buy things) and mom wasn't going for it. So yesterday he suggested retiring Gray. Gray is his super-old, super-noisy old junker of a car that he LUUUVES to drive so much and that everyone else hates. So if he retired Gray, then he could get the new car. ZOMG this is outdated already. Mum just called, they're getting the new car! In WHITE. How boring. But still! Excitingness.
So that's about it. In any case, I'm feeling better. Maybe Bull will behave himself today.
I hate rain.

And darnit, not only did my paid account run out, but so did my extra icons. I'd bemoan their loss, but I'm too cheap to buy more space, so I guess I shouldn't complain. I haven't gotten around to watching the latest BSG yet, although Fifi said it was pretty good. I guess courtroom stuff doesn't really hold my interest...lawyers, y'know. Plus Roslin looks quite, err, different with straight hair. Let's hope it stays in dream sequences. Also, I really hope that ( possible spoilers )I've gone on a Peter Wingfield kick lately. I'd been wanting to watch him in Highlander for a while, and now that I have my driver's license I can go to the other library (our usual one doesn't have the series!) and find the ones I want. Unfortunately, they didn't have any season 3 in when I went, but I picked up four S4 DVDs and two S5--including the two eps I really wanted to see--Comes a Horseman and Revelation 6:8. *glee* Oh, facepaint and bad wigs and earrings and stirrups and bad riders and hot bad guys and Sheridan's ex-wife. What's not to love! Okay, I didn't like Cassandra that much. It's probably not her fault, since I wasn't a huge fan of Lochley on B5 and that no doubt carried over. Plus her British accent was--well--different. So I like Highlander, but I've got a few nitpicks. First off--how on Earth did the show last until S3 without Methos? I may have only watched the eps that had PW in them, but from what I saw, Adrian Paul couldn't act worth spit, not to mention he always has this rather glazed, somewhat braindead expression. (Okay, so that's really an expression of not acting well. Hey, it was the thing that stood out the most.) Secondly, do they really expect us to believe that they keep their swords in their TRENCHCOATS? Hah! I know it has to do with the kind of prop swords they used--which is the third thing--but seriously. That's the most impractical thing in the world. How do you sit down? Swords don't fold, you know, plus they're dang heavy! That would make for an uncomfortable coat, always sitting wrong because it's dragging on one side. Lastly, the quality of the swords was atrocious. I didn't get a close look at MacLeod's katana, but Methos' sword was truly awful. The scene in Methuselah's Gift where he throws it away after fighting Amanda? Yeah. Swords aren't supposed to make that kind of light clanging sound. Not to mention that it's a horrible way to treat a sword! I have to say it again--a real sword of that size would be HEAVY. I happen to own a licensed replica of Théoden's sword from Lord of the Rings. Now, I don't have any specs on Methos' sword, but let's guess that it's a little bigger, plus it has a longer hilt (Théoden's is one-handed; I think I read that Methos' is a hand and a half? Two hands?). Théoden's sword weighs upwards of six pounds! Holding it one-handed for longer than thirty seconds is a chore. Granted, I'm a wimp with no upper-body strength, and Methos has had about 5,000 years to get used to toting his around. But I bet he still couldn't toss a proper sword around like that. Good golly, it sounded like--like--aluminum or something! Plus it looked ridiculously shiny and faintly yellow. Okay, it's metal and it's smooth so it's going to be shiny--but not that shiny. I have two good swords and a good knife, and they're all actually on the duller side. Plus they have--hmm, I'm not sure what the proper term for it is, but it looks kind of like the metal version of wood grain. I also have two knockoffs of Legolas' knives, and they're quite shiny--almost mirror-like. And very light. *sigh* Despite that rant, I get why they couldn't use good-quality swords. Too expensive, too heavy (and dangerous, really) for the actors to swing around at each other. But back to the practicality issue--couldn't they all have just carried around 12-inch knives or something? Still on the heavy side, and it'd probably take more than one chop to get a head off with it, but really...swords in trenchcoats? *snicker*

Which means I have a bajillion things to ramble about, so I guess I'll make a numbered list again. I like lists. Very tidy. 1. I got my driver's license! Yes, since I turned 18 in JANUARY I finally got my license. I flunked the first time I took the test--maneuverability SUCKS. That was a rather horrible and crushing experience. But I passed the second time (it was this Monday) and so I've gone to the stable every day so far except for Wednesday and today. Freedom, bwahahah. I don't particularly like driving in itself, unlike some maniacs in the family *coughdadcough*, but Scooter the car is awesome (and RED) and it's great to be able to go places when I want. Today I just took off to the grocery store and then the pet store and then Starbucks and I didn't have to bug anyone to go along with me! Yay. 2. My hair. Sadly enough, I had to (okay, I didn't HAVE to) get a trim. Snip snip, an inch and a half gone. They were really crunchy and snarly and gross, though--having been permed and dyed twice and getting most of the abuse wasn't very good for them. I still need to get rid of a couple more inches of damage, but it's not going to be anytime soon. Hopefully I won't desperately need a trim before I get to hip-length. Which will be a while. And at that point I may try self-trimming, since it'd save time and money. In the meantime, I try to do some dusting when there's sunshine (I can never find splits under artificial light!). WO'ing has been working pretty well--my hair really adjusted faster than I expected--but I'm just plain a little too lazy for it. I love how soft it makes my hair, but I'm super paranoid about pulling hairs out if I scalp massage in the shower. Sooo I ordered some shampoo bars from Chagrin Valley Soap and Craft. The people at TLHC rave about them (there's a 70-plus page thread devoted to them) so I thought I'd check it out. They're made out of all sorts of fabulous things like oils, mango butter, and EOs. Some of them have honey, carrot juice, aloe, chamomile, MUD, heck, beer and eggs! They all sound wonderful but since they make all their own stuff, it isn't all in stock at once. I really wanted to try the Extra Honey Beer & Egg, but it was all gone so I settled for the Mud & Clay. I also got Apples & Spice soap, and Neem & Tea Tree which can be used as soap or shampoo. Plus I got some doggy shampoo--Cedarwood & Lavender! (I actually got it to use on Pharaoh's tail--it's GROSS.) They all came today. They're sample sizes, which are still HUGE, and they were cheap! I got the four bars and S&H for about $14. They all smell lovely, but unfortunately all of them but the Apples & Spice bar need to cure some more. But I couldn't wait to try the stuff on my hair, so I used the Apples & Spice as shampoo. Despite the fact that it was not advertised as such. Anyway, the results were great. I hadn't washed my hair since Thursday, so it was grease-city, but now it's all clean and shiny and soft and smells amazing. I'm so sold. Also, while I'm on the topic of hair, I have roots showing like crazy. Because my natural hair color is such an ugly ashy-greyish-blondish-brownish color, next to the bright henna'd parts....it looks completely grey! In fact, when I only had a little bit of new growth it looked like I was balding where my part was. But since I'm lazy, I haven't re-henna'd anything and I'm just living with the half inch of greyness. *is a bum* 3. I want a snake. This is a very new phenomenon, and I'm blaming it on my hair. See, TLHC has a pets forum and someone posted pictures of their pet snakes...and I thought, "Wow, they're actually really pretty!" One in particular was this beautiful bright yellow. So I googled 'pet snakes' or something and after some reading decided that Corn Snakes sound like good pets. So I found cornsnakes and VOILA. I went back and read a year's worth of posts on that community and I decided to think about getting a snake. Mom is not enthused. Fifi thinks I'm dumb. I care not! I went to the pet store today and checked out their snake supplies. See, we have a spare 15-gallon aquarium in the attic, and if I got a baby snake, it probably wouldn't outgrow the tank for a while. (Ithaca is currently occupying the 20-gallong long aquarium that I have, and she's not going anywhere for another couple years. Hopefully.) The pet store has possibilities for substrate (bedding), including coconut mulch which is what I was thinking of using. Unfortunately, I didn't see any under-tank heaters, just heat lamps. I asked one of the employees if they sold frozen mice and she said yes, so that's a food source taken care of although it might be cheaper to buy online. The store didn't have any Corn snakes, which was okay (I wouldn't get a snake from a pet store anyway) but they did have two Ball Pythons. I asked to hold one of them. (I've never held a snake in my life. In fact, I think the only live snakes I've seen have been in zoos.) I was a little nervous. I didn't know if he would just lie there and think Maybe if I don't move they'll put me back under my log where it's warm or if he'd think ZOMG must get back to my log! and zip all over the place. Well, when the girl put him in my hands, I was quite surprised. I wasn't expecting him to be 'slimy' or 'cold' or any of those other things that people, for some reason, associate with snakes. But he was much, much warmer than I expected, and so soft. He was heavy, and all coiled up from napping under his log, and he stayed that way for a while. I could see his sides moving as he breathed, which, although I suppose it shouldn't be odd, I wasn't expecting either. After a few minutes he started poking around with his head and then slithering around my hands a little, which was quite a strange sensation. I wanted to stay for a while and just watch him roam a bit, but I had to get home. Sigh. The employee tried (in a non-pushy way, thankfully) to sell him to me, but I sighed sadly and said that mom would kill me if I brought him home, and then gave him back to her. I want a snake! Mom thinks dad will say no. Sigh.

One of Jessica's (two) lesson horses was lame today. I told her she could borrow Bull if she needed to--he's been super good lately (I can't recall the last time he spooked) and I had a lesson earlier, so he was already a little tired out. I didn't think she'd be able to use him anyway since most of her lesson kids are on the young side, but she called tonight with fantastic news: she put a seven-year-old on him and he was an ANGEL. He went in a frame for her. He doesn't do that for ME! The girl cantered for her first time ever and he was GOOD. I was flabbergasted. This is the horse that didn't know how to stop when I first got him. This is the horse that jumped five feet straight in the air and ditched me once. This is the horse that gets bored with 2'6" fences. This is the horse that used to spook at everything and everything for no reason other than he just FELT like it.
It's astonishing that he's come so far. Jessica said the girl absolutely loved him and she was beaming. This pretty much made my week. Maybe my month.
So I went downstairs to tell mom and dad the wonderful news. What are dad's first words? "Is the girl still alive?" Yes, she is, he was so good it was incredible. "Does Jessica have good insurance?"
He went on to say that it was irresponsible of her to put a seven-year-old on Bull, blah blah blah he's so unpredictable blah blah blah. I was so stunned. He didn't ask what they did (for all he knows Jessica led him around the arena with a lead rope for Eru's sake), he didn't say "Wow, that's impressive!", he didn't ask if Bull'd been good recently. I said no, he's behaved very well lately, in fact, and he just scoffed, "Lately!"
I just left the room. I couldn't believe it.
My hair is bleeeding.

Or at least, it was when I was in the tub. The water turned a nice henna-y orange, much to my dismay. Now I'm afraid that my hair is going to lose some of the nice bright color it has. :/ Maybe when it's time to do my roots, I'll do another all-over just to make sure it stays good and red.
I scrolled through the Mando'a dictionary again tonight, just to see if I can pick up a few more words, and I got to thinking about KOTOR. I'm rather partial to the thought of Revan being Mandalorian--not technically, of course, since being Mandalorian is more about culture than bloodlines, but in the sense that she had Mando parents. How the Jedi would have managed to get ahold of her is a big question, but I'm sure they could manage it. Babysnatchers that they are. :p In any case, I was thinking of Mando names and it occured to me that Tal Marev would work well for Revan. 'Tal' means Blood and 'Marev' means Fist. Tal Marev could easily become 'Talma,' leaving 'Rev' floating by itself... (Of course, the only 'an' in Mando'a means 'all,' which doesn't make any sense tacked onto the end, and besides if I really wanted to say 'bloody fist' it would have to be 'talyc marev'...but...oh well. These things could be worked around. Maybe Marev is her middle name and her clan name begins with an 'An?' Not that the Jedi'd tell her her clan name...do Mando'ade have middle names?)
Heh, so maybe it's a stretch. But I've been playing with the thought of Mando!Rev fic for some time now...the only problem is that I can't see it working with a one-shot, and I'm terrible at chapterfic. Plus I'm not a gigantic fan of Malak. He's just so...overdramatic, heh. I suppose he could have been a nice lad back when he and Revan were teens. Becoming evil does tend to change one. I wonder if he's naturally bald?
Bah, I'm terrible, contemplating starting new fic when I have upwards of ten stories in progress. Especially with that ebil!Rev fic pleading to be adjusted and uploaded to KFM. Fifi keeps bugging me about that drawing that goes with it. :\ Perhaps I'll just procrastinate some more? Sigh.
Tonight dad told me that two of his fellow dentists are looking for somebody to teach them how to use Photoshop. For $25 an hour. Arrrrrrgh! I absolutely detest (and am horrible at) teaching anything, but...but...$25 an hour! It's tempting. Think of all the henna a couple hours' worth would get. Heck, four hours and I could get another sword. Now THAT'S tempting...I really want Boromir's...I'll have to think about this. Hard. >:[
Riding lesson today. It's been under 20° all week, so I hadn't ridden since my last lesson. Yeah. Needless to say, today's wasn't exactly spectacular. It was just too cold to be motivated to do anything. Normally I'm a jumpaholic but doing 18" today was practically torture. :p Too much effort! Pharaoh wasn't thrilled either.

Ugh, it was gross. I had this great huge pile of gloppy, stinky, green hair and stuff atop my head. It dripped under the plastic wrap. It dripped into my ears. It was heavy. It was not fun. BUT. I managed to keep it in for four hours, which was what I wanted. I used up most of the hot water in the shower and half a bottle of conditioner washing it out. :p From there I've gone through a few emotional stages. 1. Shock. Since it was wet, it still looked dark and brown as usual. But the very edge hairs around my face were mostly dry, and WHOAHBRIGHTORANGE. I'm not sure I like this. 2. Excitement. I decide I like it! I can't wait until it dries and I see what color the whole deal is. 3. Apprehension. The underside has dried and it looks almost exactly the same as before. :( I am unsure if this is because my henna application sucked, or something else. I fear the rest of my hair will look likewise. 4. Disappointment. See, I'd previously dyed my naturally dark blond hair a very dark red-brown. It wasn't permanent, but it never washed out completely. So I had about four inches of normal dark blond on top, followed by another 28 of medium brown. I'd read that henna is wonderful at hiding the "I stopped dying HERE" line, but alas, it was all lies. Yes, I now have five inches of bright orange-red hair, followed by 28 inches of faintly orangeish brown. I want to cry. :( 5. Relief. Aha! It's almost 100% dry now and I can see that, while the top five inches are undoubtedly very different, the darker part is indeed rather orange. I expect that in the sunlight (wait, this is Ohio....sun? what's that?) it will be lovely. 6. Excitement again. Just think! When I've finally grown out all 28 inches of dyed hair (lemme get out my calculator...that'll be about FIVE YEARS! Ack! *dies*) and henna the natural dark blonde, it will be the perfect orange-red. 7. Satisfaction. It's already darkened enough that it's not brightbright orange on top anymore. I am happy. All in all, I'm pleased though not ecstatic. The color will darken a little more, so the top won't be quite as vibrant and it'll blend in with the rest better. My hair feels very soft, though still a little stinky, and not any thicker. Verdict: I will henna again! I had a fair amount left over, probably enough to do roots with. Now that'll be fun... I was too dumb to take a before picture, but here's an after shot. That nice bright red on top...that's what I want all over! :D Now I just have to wait and see if the bright orange will come off my FACE.... :o I'm such a sloppy henna applier.
Meme time.

Kaywinnet Lee Frye, Firefly( This ought to be interesting. )I got my henna on Thursday. It was a lot less than I expected it to be, so I'm a little apprehensive about whether or not it'll cover all my hair. I'm going to do the messy process tomorrow and hope all goes well! The test bundle of hair that I did didn't turn out quite as red as I would have liked, but I think it'll still look good. *crosses fingers*

I'll just break the past month down into a few manageable sections. BirthdayI did indeed get KOTOR II for my birthday! *happydance* I played through in a couple days, LSF Exile, of course. Despite the numerous complaints I've seen online about horrible amounts of bugs, I don't think I ran into ANY. Surprising, but I won't complain. The ending was--well, it actually wasn't as bad as I was expecting, at least at first. The more I thought about it, the worse it got. :p It really made very little sense and left a lot of loose ends lying around, but still--better than I expected. I played again, DS this time, and the end was even worse, but...oh well! I'm eagerly awaiting The Sith Lords Restoration Project, which will restore tons of cut stuff and fix dialogue problems (calling Revan 'he' when she's a 'she', etc). I also got RC: Hard Contact, which was pretty good but not the best book I'd ever read; a purdy butterfly ring; the darling Scorch action figure I talked about earlier; and a BSG magazine. Good stuff. HairIt's coming along fairly well. I've pretty much decided to go WO (water only) and use baking soda only every one in a while. The greasies are gross, but I'm going to stick it out. Sooner or later--most likely later, with my luck--my head will adjust and I'll be able to space showers out. Yay! It's also been growing fairly quickly--I'm not sure if it's going at its normal pace or I'm just more aware of it now. In any case, it was 33" last time I measured, and then I got about an inch trimmed off the ends yesterday. They were getting crunchy and knotty a lot, and feel much better now. I finally ordered some henna! 200g. Hopefully that'll be enough for my hair. I'm a little worried about the application part, since it's a messy process to begin with and I've never done anything remotely like it before. Also, I'm not sure what, exactly, the color will be when I rinse it out. My natural color is dishwater blonde, but all but the top four inches has been twice dyed with a darker, redder dye. Henna is unlike other dyes in that it only adds to the original color, it doesn't replace it. If that made any sense. Anyway, what I really want is a brighter red/orange, which I probably won't get with the color of my hair as it is now. So today I decided to try lightening my hair with honey. I have no idea if it works, since I pretty much skimmed the honey thread on the Long Hair Community boards and decided to try it. Four tablespoons conditioner, two tablespoons honey, glopped on the hair and then put under saran wrap for eight hours! I figure it'd be good practice for henna-ing as well, since you have to wrap henna-d hair as well. Well, all I can say is that I'm really, really bad at it! I think henna is less slippery than honey and conditioner, so hopefully it won't all goosh down to the bottom of my head like it is now. I covered it in plastic wrap and then a towel, but it dripped like crazy down the back so I put a plastic bag over the plastic wrap and then put the towel over the whole thing. Seems to be working better, but I have some serious doubts as to whether I'll be able to stand it for eight hours! I'm guessing I'll last four or so. I think I want to get it all off before dad comes home. :p Prison BreakMahone isn't dead! *happydance* The first ep after the break was great; this Monday's wasn't quite as good, since...well, he was barely in it. Plus he seemed to be a little too enthusiastic back at work. I'd hoped for some more hints of his turning-good ness. Maybe next week...

I finally made myself a new header and layout! thetoofster thetoofster thetoofsterWell, all right--a new header and new colors for the layout. This header features Sev (with the sniper attachment for his DC) and Scorch (with the anti-armor attachment for his DC) from Republic Commando, and the layout has some words of Mando'a, the language of the Mando'ade or Mandalorians. Yes, my latest obsession is everything Clone- and Mandalorian-centric. In fact, I even asked for the Scorch action figure for my birthday. Isn't he adorable? fifmeister is getting him for me. (Gotta love ebay.) Besides Scorch, I'm getting an RC book (Hard Contact) and a ring, and hopefully (*crosses fingers*) KOTOR II. And if I don't get KOTOR II, darnit, I'll buy it myself. My hair is getting nice and long; last time I measured, earlier this year, it was a little longer than 32 inches. No-poo is going all right, although not as well as I'd like. I'll stick it out another month or so, and then I might try a shampoo bar or something if it doesn't improve. CO is just too much trouble. I'm lazy. As far as henna goes, my sample never arrived, sadly. I think I may get some Light Mountain henna. I really want red hair. Either that, or black...although I'm not sure black would look good on me. I'm tempted to try it. I think indigo is non-permanent...

Here my journal's about to expire in about ten days and I haven't updated yet this year! A few things have happened since I last rambled here. Nothing drastic, thankfully.
1. I found a new love in the computer game department: Republic Commando. I got it for Christmas and played it through in two days. Granted, it's not the world's longest game, but it was heaps of fun and I could barely drag myself away. Of course, I knew I was pretty much doomed to be glued to it as soon as I heard Carth--err, I mean, Raphael Sbarge--as Scorch. The inter-squad banter was hilarious, and the fact that Temuera Morrison did the voice of 38 was icing on the cake. (Of course, theoretically, he should have voiced all four of them--but what would be the fun of that?) Naturally, I must make fanstuff. I started with a sketch and a (very) short accompanying text which I did this morning in church. We'll see how far it gets...
2. I didn't get KOTOR II for Christmas, sadly, because Dad confused the original KOTOR with the second one...despite the fact that I spelled it out quite clearly on my wishlist. But. That's okay, because I got RepCom instead (part of a 5-game pack that included KOTOR) and my birthday's coming up, so I may get it then, and it's the thought that counts anyway.
3. Mum and I watched Ivanhoe last night and tonight--the 1997 miniseries. I'm reading it in school for BritLit, so I thought it might be a painless (relatively) way to supplement it. We couldn't get the version we wanted from the library, so Mum got two different ones instead. The first one was so far from the book that I couldn't stand it, so we watched the mini instead and I was pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately, I seem to like the villains better. *scratches head* De Bracy was adorable and I couldn't help but cheer on his efforts to woo Rowena. Too bad he died. Then there was Bois-Guilbert, who I thought looked very familiar but I couldn't place him until I'd already decided that he was...maybe...a bit...good-looking. Then I saw in the credits that he was played by, of all people, Ciaran Hinds...who I know from POTO. Firmin the pathetic manager. *sigh* Horrifying, but I couldn't help but root for him when it came to Rebecca--well, in the second half, anyway. Also, the dude who played Ivanhoe looked like an ugly Wash. That was kind of off-putting.
4. My birthday is in just a week, wooh. I'll be an Adult, and get to do lots of exciting things like...um...vote. And get my driver's license (without having taken those awful Driver's Ed classes, blech). Aand...not have to wear a helmet while riding my beasty! Not that I'd go helmetless, of course. Pharaoh may be less spooky nowadays but I'm not suicidal.
5. I ate Frootloops today. It was a momentous occasion because Mom never buys sugary cereal like that. (She needed some of it for church--she teaches two-year-olds.)
6. I got a new computer, zomg. Mum's died, so she got my old one and I got a new one! It's one of the fantastic new Mac Pros--it has Mac 10.4.8 and Windows on the the same machine. Is that spiffy or what? Now I can play all my Windows-only computer games in my own room, and still have the amazingness of Mac for everything else. It's amazingly fast--takes about ten seconds to boot up and maybe less to open Photoshop. *spins*
7. Fifi got The Sims 2 for Christmas, and I stole it and have been playing it ever since. *cackle* No, not really. But I have been playing a ton, and so far I've got quite a few families going. Bill and Laura Adama, Jayne Cobb, Carth and Revan Onasi...there are probably more but I forget for the moment. Hey, it's late--err, early. In any case, it's loads of fun. Fifi has the entire X-Men group...well, the interesting ones, anyway. Storm and Kurt, Logan and Rogue, Jean and Scott, Bobby and Kitty, all in the same house. (Actually, it's just a grass plot with some furniture--too poor for a real house, heh.)
8. I went back to school, phooey. Speaking of which, I really must get to bed now.
9. OH, also, BSG and Prison Break start up soon. WOOH. PB, please make me a birthday present of living-yet-whumped Mahone. kthx.

After further review of the last PB ep and some time to stop hyperventilating, I'm less sure of Mahone's death. I went back and watched the shooting in slow-mo, and it looked like Kellerman hit him in the shoulder, which I sincerely doubt is immediately fatal. Bleeding to death would still be a big problem, though, and I have to wonder why he passed out right away. *scratches head* While I'm sure that getting shot anywhere would hurt...a lot...I wouldn't think that a non-fatal injury would be quite that painful. Come on...he could have gotten a shot or two off from the ground! Hmph. In any case, I do agree that there's too much potential for any good writer to just get rid of him, but then--I don't trust writers. *g*
Darnit. I had something else I wanted to blather about...what was it?
Oh! I remember. Van Helsing. *snicker*
Ever since I became a Hugh fan I was sure that I would never, ever watch the...the...thing that is Van Helsing. I mean, come on. Vampires...werewolves...Frankenstein's monster...Mary Sue...*eyeroll* Top it all off with some pretty poor CGI and it has all the makings of an atrociously bad box-office flop, which of course it was. Anyway, I always thought the whole thing was rather embarassing and prefered to pretend that Hugh had never done such a thing. :p
Then Fifi happened upon it whilst flipping channels, and well...there went that idea. I must say, I originally thought the long hair looked bad on Hugh, but since we managed to catch the end of the movie...it was mostly wet!sweaty!Hugh, which was...well...it made the hair look a heckalot better, anyway. :p I couldn't understand a darn thing any of them said because of their ridiculous accents (well, except Hugh's, which strangely fluctuated between American, Australian, and British) and I completely couldn't follow the plot because I saw the last half hour and I'm sure they cut some scenes to make the movie fit the timeslot.
But...Hugh! *g* It replayed again that night, so we taped the whole thing, and I watched it today. It's still insanely cheesey and generally quite stupid (come one...six horses pulling a stagecoach can NOT leap over a chasm like that, nevermind the fact that they probably would have refused to go over the bridge anyway--horses are smarter than you'd think when it comes to things like that), but Hugh was adorable. Er, except in furry form. That was...just a little odd. :p But I couldn't help but notice the glaring similarities between Van Helsing and Logan... *eyeroll* I kept expecting him to pop out his claws.
Last thing...Gabriel? *snicker* I'm sorry, but Hugh just doesn't look like a Gabriel.

I thought you were my FRIEND! You made my Mondays so much better! You gave me something to look forward to after the drudgery of school! You somewhat lessened the pain of Invasion's cancellment!
And now I hate you. WIth the fiery burning passion of a thousand exploding suns.
*SOBS*
How you could kill off such a wonderful character is beyond me. I hope you die. I hope the next season gets the lowest ratings ever and you get cancelled.
Sincerely, Someone who thought Mahone was possibly the most interesting character on TV
P.S. Your only possible redemption would be if he lived and much angst ensued. But I sincerely doubt that. Also, my next sword/knife will be named Writerslayer, just for you idiots.
